Lawns that are in very poor condition often demonstrate a high build up of thatch and become very compacted. In order to counteract this problem, dethatching along with coring is usually carried out, followed by an undersow to introduce new seed into the ground. Prior to work commencing, we carry out a lawn assessment and visit your property to establish the condition of your lawn. From this analysis we can then tailor a renovation that targets your lawn's individual requirements.

Boundary Spraying
Regular spraying of non-selective herbicide to keep boundary and lawn edges under control.
Dethatching
Decaying organic matter (thatch) builds up over time, preventing water and fertilizer reaching the grass roots, thus restricting grass growth. Annual removal of thatch is necessary to sustain a healthy lawn.
Undersowing
A specialist machine that drills the seed directly into the ground and then covering the seed with soil in one pass, ensuring maximum germination, a successful grass strike and a even distribution of seed.
Undersowing also helps remove thatch build up in your lawn which will help the lawn dry out alot quicker in those winter months.
Coring/Aerating
We also have coring machine to aerate lawns. This machine will remove 8-10% of the thatch in your lawn (Thatch is dead organic material that builds up in lawns over time). Compacted soil and heavy thatch are two of the biggest obstacles to a premium lawn as they tend to suffocate grass plants by preventing air, water and nutrients from reaching the root zone. Aeration opens up the thatch layer and helps relieve the compaction. Aeration is accomplished through the use of Think Turf's coring machine which penetrates the ground and pulls out core of thatch, soil and grass. The removal of cores allows grass plants to breathe and set down deeper roots.
Turf Cutting
We can cut, lift and preserve your turf with our turf cutting machine. With our turf cutter we can simply cut the turf, roll it up and then roll it back out to fit the hole it came from. This elinimates the problem of unsightly trenches or the hassle and look of sowing new different grass seed in its place.

Fertilizer
Correctly-timed fertilizer applications help maintain healthy lawns. Many lawns today are growing in poor quality soil due to construction activities from the installation of streets and driveways as well as during excavation for the house foundations. Under these less than ideal growing conditions, fertilizing lawns is essential to meet their basic nutrient requirements.
Fertilization rates and application frequency directly influence colour, growth rate and density of a lawn. Lawns fertilized infrequently are thin and are prone to weed invasion, insect and/or disease damage. Consequently the grass will be slow to recover and there will be uneven regrowth on bare patches.
A slow release fertilizer should be applied every 2 to 3 months throughout the year, plus two additional applications in Spring and Autumn to boost growth and provide a strong healthy turf.
